Tirbracken Road will close at its junction with the A6 Glenshane Road, between Monday 14th September at 1000hrs to Thursday 24th September 2020 at 2000hrs. This closure is required to construct the new tie in point of the Tirbracken road to the existing A6 alignment. The work involved requires the full width of the Tirbracken Road, therefore, it is essential to close this section of the road to complete the work in a safe manner. The A6 Mainline will close between its junction with B74 Feeny Road and the B74 Glenshane Road. This road will close Friday 4th September at 1900hrs to Monday 7th September at 2020 0600hrs. During the closure a signed diversion will be in place on the on the A6 at its junction with B74 Feeny Road and B74 Glenshane Road and vice versa. The work planned over this weekend includes deep excavation activity. SWS JV have carefully designed and planned the work involved, taking into consideration the location, time and date for the works to take place. The culvert we are installing requires an excavation 6m depth under the A6 road and the concrete pipe is 1800mm in diameter. The same area has a requirement for additional drainage crossings utilising the closure for the culvert and drainage works to be undertaken concurrently. This will require additional planning and resources but reduce future disruption to the traffic. When carrying out work of this nature large machinery is used, this large machinery and large excavation require the full width of the road and areas adjacent to the road as working areas. Which leaves insufficient room for traffic to pass by safely. Therefore, it is essential to close this section of the road to complete the work in a safe manner.
