From Friday 13th May 2022 all access to the Gulf Rd North will be via Foreglen Rd. Surfacing operations will be ongoing from Monday 23rd May to Friday 27th May 2022. Once the surfacing operations are complete, residents can access Gulf Rd North from Friday 27th May 2022 via the new Killaloo overbridge. There will be ongoing lane closures and traffic management arrangements on the Foreglen Rd at its junction with Gulf Rd North from Friday 13th May to Wednesday 18th May 2022.
Road closure on B74 Glenshane Rd at its junction with the A6 Foreglen Rd (at Killaloo) on Wednesday 25th May 2022 for approx. 10 days.
This closure is required to complete final surfacing and permanent road marking works on the new Gulf Rd South, Kilcatten Rd, B74 Glenshane Rd and Gulf Rd northbound compact connector.
The kerbing to the splitter island on the northbound connector will also be completed during this closure and the final surface course laid to the westbound carriageway of the new A6 across the junction with the connector.
During this closure a signed diversion will be in place at B74 Glenshane Rd, B69 Baranailt Rd (South) and A6 Foreglen Rd. Local access will be maintained. Traffic travelling west from Belfast will use Tamnaherin Rd to access Gulf Rd.
When these works have been completed, the Gulf Rd southbound compact connector will be opened to facilitate access to Claudy from Derry/ L’Derry and Claudy to Belfast via Killaoo overbridge and the B74 Glenshane Rd.
